If there is one upgrade we recommend over and over it would be paint. It is the least expensive upgrade yet the one improvement that gives the greatest impact.
There is nothing worse then when a buyer walks into a house and notices the walls are a dark old colour that makes the house look smaller and darker. Even if they were interested in purchasing the home they will naturally start deducting off the price a perception value of what it will cost to paint over the walls.
Time and time again we always recomment to our sellers to paint if needed and to avoid dark colours that could potentially turn off buyers. Although you might like a certain colour you have to keep in mind that you are trying to appeal to all buyers and not just the ones that like a particular colour.
We always suggest neutral earth tone colours that will brighten up a room and make it look larger. We always get asked how much it would cost to paint. I always suggest to do it yourself if you are capable or if you have to, hire a professional painter but keep in mind it can get pricey.
